CATS Dear Diary: Mary Heaton by Little House Needleworks
Donations are gladly accepted to help with the fundraising efforts for Southern Pines Animal Shelter. (Please note: these items are often pre-owned, but are in good condition). This animal shelter is near-and-dear to my heart, and all of my cats have come through that program. I have fostered hundreds of kittens over the years, served on the board, and even managed the shelter for a short time. They take in about 7,000 animals a year now (they pull from other shelters that are over-crowded in the area). It is a no-kill, open admission shelter, which means no animal is turned away. The shelter also operates a low-cost spay and neuter clinic that also provides low cost immunizations and microchipping for community members. Animals from the shelter are often transported to other states that have more demand for shelter pets than they can supply. I am so proud of the work they do -- because they're not only helping the animals, but they're also helping the families who love their pets that they adopt there.Proceeds from the sale of the items donated to the fundraiser go to the shelter -- I cover the cost of the credit/Paypal transaction and shipping supplies.
