Samplers of the Pennsylvania Germans by Tandy and Charles Hersh

This is one of my favorite sampler books -- it was originally published in 1991 and is chock-full of information and pictures about the charming, folk-arty, unique style of Pennsylvania German samplers. This book is mainly pictures, some in black and white, lots in color. But there's interesting information, too, about how these samplers came to be, why they were stitched in this style, and information about the samplers included in the book. This one is getting harder and harder to find -- I am only able to get used copies, but they are in good condition. Sometimes I get a previous library book, but I make sure the books are in good nick, and aren't falling apart or missing pages. I highly recommend this book (I must admit that mine has been in the bathtub with me!)
