DOWNLOAD: THREE-PENNY NEEDLES by Shakespeare's Peddler
started this series back in 2024, inspired by the colorful little cards that needles used to be packed in. And, stitched on 40 count, they fit in a standard 5 by 7 frame! For this one, I wanted to celebrate the humble penny — a coin which we’ve had in our pockets and purses, bought candy and cross stitch stuff, and made wishes in fountains. I have a great affection for Abraham Lincoln, whose profile is on the penny. So look for nods to Abe: a train, an axe, the log cabin he was born in, “Honest” and a top hat, a Lincoln Star quilt block, a basket of pennies, and the Illinois state tree (white oak), bird (cardinal) and flower (violet). Oh, and a blackberry pie, his favorite dessert! I will have the models and charts for One Nickel Needles and Five Nickel Needles at the show.
